Introduction

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Sirajuli, observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with great enthusiasm, discipline and active participation from students, teachers, Scouts and Guides, and the school management. The celebration was organized to create awareness about environmental protection and to inspire students to become responsible caretakers of nature.

Preparation on 4th June 2026

The preparation for the programme began on 4th June 2026. The students of Classes IX and X actively prepared colourful posters, placards, banners and meaningful slogans for the awareness rally. Their creative work carried powerful messages such as Save Nature, Save Future; Save Trees, Save Life; Grow with Nature; and Development, Yes - Destruction, No. Through this preparation, students expressed their concern for the environment and their desire to spread awareness among the public.

Environmental Awareness Rally

On 5th June 2026, the students of Classes IX to XII assembled in the school campus along with the Scouts and Guides. Under the guidance and leadership of Fr. Dr. Dennis Solomon SDB, Principal, and with the support of the teachers, the students proceeded for an Environmental Awareness Rally from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Sirajuli to Sirajuli High School.

The rally was carried out in a disciplined and meaningful manner. Students carried banners, placards and posters with strong environmental messages. The rally created awareness among people about the importance of planting trees, protecting nature, reducing plastic use, saving water, avoiding pollution and promoting sustainable development. The Scouts and Guides added beauty, order and spirit to the programme through their active participation.

Visit to Sirajuli High School

At Sirajuli High School, saplings were presented to the teachers as a meaningful gesture of friendship and shared responsibility. This symbolic act reminded everyone that planting a tree is an investment for the future and a gift to the next generation. Short talks were also given on the importance of World Environment Day, care for Mother Earth and the responsibility of every student to protect creation.

Competitions and Activities in the School

After returning to the school campus, several competitions and activities were conducted. A Quiz Competition was organized for the students of Classes VI to VIII to improve their knowledge of the environment, forests, wildlife, pollution, climate change and sustainable development. At the same time, a Poster Making Competition was held, where students expressed their thoughts creatively through drawings, colours and slogans.

An Extempore Speech Competition was also organized to help students speak confidently on environmental topics. Students spoke about tree plantation, plastic pollution, clean surroundings, global warming, water conservation and the role of young people in building a greener world.

Tree Plantation and Message

A tree plantation activity was also carried out in the school campus in the presence of the Principal, teachers, Scouts and Guides, and students. This activity reminded everyone that environmental protection begins with small and sincere actions. Planting a sapling is a promise to care for the earth and to preserve life for the future.

Conclusion

The celebration was not only an event but also a learning experience. It inspired students to love nature, respect the earth, keep the campus clean, avoid waste, reduce plastic, save water and plant more trees. The programme concluded with the message that every student must become an ambassador of a cleaner, greener and healthier world.
